From Diane Peterson: Dino Bugica is firing up his new, 7-foot parilla grill this week in preparation for another gut-busting Diavola Supper Club event from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, June 26 2013 at the Odd Fellows Hall, just upstairs from Diavola in Geyserville.
The idea behind the Supper Club is to give laid-back Sonoma County something to get gussied up for. The family-style feast by Bugica is followed by dancing to Jack Sonni & Los Perros de Amore with The Leisure Class horns, who play funky favorites from the past.
The theme of the March Supper Club was the Roaring ‘20s, and twirling fedoras and fringe were everywhere on the dance floor. The dinner was inspired by the Basque-style food that Bugica grew up with in Reno, Nevada.
This time around, the Italian chef will be whisking the guests off to the pampas of Argentina with a mixed grill of chicken, beef and sausage, topped with chimichurri, salsa verde and other sauces. Rounding out the dinner will be a Corn and Bean Soup; Salad of Heirloom Tomatoes, Red Onion and Gorgonzola; and the requisite beans and rice. For dessert, you have a choice of cheese or cookies.
“It should be fun,” said Bugica, who wore an extremely wide tie to the last supper club. “Everybody should dress up … like a salsa or tango dancer.”
A sangria reception will be held from 7:30 to 8 p.m., with dinner starting at 8 p.m. and the tables cleared away for dancing from 10:30 p.m. to midnight. The bar also serves beer and wine, and you can bring your own for a $10 corkage. Special guests include Adam Lamoreaux of Linden Street Brewery in Oakland, plus Idlewild Wines and Ryme Cellars, both of Healdsburg.
Tickets are $85 per person, or you can reserve a table for 10 for $750. Advance tickets required, available at brownpapertickets.com/event/405720.
